Respiratory system

Practical for the assignment will be on Thursday 13th May - you must attend to be able to collect the results. you will need to work in pairs.

Draft deadline (email or bring me draft reports)-Thursday 23rd May
Final deadline (bring me final printed copy)-Monday 3rd June (1st lesson back after year 12 study leave)

Those of you on year 12 study leave will need to work on the remainder of the assignment during your time off and return it to me on the final deadline. I will assist via email and will be in my room during the normal times you have lessons.

Lymphatic system

Draft deadline (email or bring me draft reports)-Monday 1st July
Final deadline (bring me final printed copy)-Thursday 4th July

After this time we will have time for improvement work for all units and you can make sure that you acheive the best grade as possible. We will then start to look at second year units and start assignments for you to work on over the

CVS merit work

Task 2 (M3)
Explain the requirement for a transport system in the body and how this is achieved-Include;
Transport (gases, nutrients, waste products, hormones, heat)
Defence
Regulation (temperature, pH, water content)
Lymphatic System

For example;
How does the body deal with the constant leakage of fluid from the cells?
Which part of the transport system ensures this intracellular fluid is returned?
Remember an annotated diagram is always a good thing

CVS Pass work

You need to hand in:

for each of the 3 practicals:
  • your results table
  • your graph
  • your conclusion

your conclusions must include:
  1. What do your results show?
  2. Can you explain why your results occurred?
  3. Show knowledge of the structure & function of the cardiovascular system
  4. Correctly interpret results.
  5. Give reasons for any anomalous results

Vasodilation- blood vessels dilate close to the skin to lose heat
Vasocontriction- blood vessels constrict close to the skin to retain heat
